Patagonia
I fell in love with you
— in that unexplainable way that compels me -
As if my core was a magnet and you were north.
And as capricious and cold as the north can be, you were not compelled by me.
I once heard someone say of Patagonia “It is a land that you learn to love very slowly.
You start to understand its winds, the storms, the solitude and over years you understand how she is.
You start to love her.”
I was your Patagonia.
If only you had given us the time.
I was the storms in your life
- the hardships that at first seemed to bend you, but would have made you stronger.
You did not have the patience to wait.
I was there.
This unique land for you to love.
This landscape to be possessed and to possess you.
